Windsor Castle

[edit]

"...Ohthere (Latinized to Otheus), who had been Constable of Windsor Castle during the reign of King Edward the Confessor (1042-1066)." So how was Ohthere constable of a castle that wasn't built until William the Conqueror? Mannanan51 (talk) 04:09, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

Gherardini

[edit]

Were the Gherardinis there to work as barbers or make pizzas? No one, except pseudohistorians believe the Italian origin of the FitzGeralds and it was likely pushed because the later term for them "Geraldine" looked similar to Gherardini when there was an attempt to discover important ancestors. Wiki is a huge joke when it comes to people with agendas posting nonsense. 108.20.195.39 (talk) 21:56, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Quite correct. J. Horace Round, on pp. 119 - 121 of his essay on "The Origin of the Fitzgeralds," already cited on this page (ref. 7) and available at Wikisource, debunks the charming but false tale of the Geraldines' Italian origin. The whole "Origins" section of this page needs to go: not only are its claims false, but it is full of solecisms. Ferguscullen (talk) 22:33, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
